Here are two palm-leaf manuscript books (Ola) that need identification. The colors look about right on my trinitron monitor, but this may vary depending on the machine you are using.  If you have any clues as to their dates and places of origin, perhaps from the style of the calligraphy,  or can read the script, please contact me.

This one is 13½"  x 2" x 1¾" thick, and has beveled black-painted wood covers. It was purchased in Kandy, Sri Lanka in 1984. It has been identified as a Pali manuscript in Singhalese script. Nobody has yet indicated what the content might be. A detail photo below enlarges the one-line inscription. Opinions as to the date vary from circa 1600 to 1900.

Below are two enlarged details of this image:

The book below is 18" x 2¼" x 2½" thick, and has beveled wood covers with crude yellow and red decoration. The boards may not be contemporary with the book. I have several opinions of the language of this book,  including Pali and Thai, as well as an opinion that it is Singhalese script. Opinions as to the date vary from circa 1700 to 1920. It was purchased in Thailand in 1989. If you can read any of the text in this book or the one above,  please contact me.
