Monroe Snook
at The ARTist's Park
Through October
, 2008

We usually do not review "flat" or "2D" art in the virtual world of Second Life®, but Monroe Snook is doing work that represents a different use of SL as a new medium. Capturing screen shots of found scenes, or creating the scene and capturing it, the image is then reprocessed and modified in external software and repatriated to SL.
A few artists, including the excellent Lano Ling, are exploring this methodology. What captivates me about Monroe's work goes beyond the technical mastery embodied in the execution. It is the metaphoric quality of the imagery, abstract composition, and the variety of subject matter.
